Early Life & Education

Jason Borrevik grew up in Eugene, Oregon, spending his childhood deeply involved in academics and sports. With a grandfather that played in the NBA for the Oregon Ducks in the 1940s, sports were a big part of Jason’s childhood.  

Jason attended the University of Oregon, graduating in 1994 with a BA in Economics. He continued his education at the University of California, Berkley, Boalt Hall, to pursue a Law degree. Jason also worked as a legal intern with the Oakland Rangers during his studies.

Upon graduating from the University of California, Jason joined Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, a law firm based in Palo Alto, CA. He worked as a senior associate in the firm’s executive compensation and benefits group.

Jason joined Compensia in 2005. Compensia is a management consulting firm that provides executive compensation in addition to other advisory services. It focuses exclusively on technology and life sciences companies. Principal and Management Consultant Jason Borrevik advises his clients on compensation for executives. He works with early-stage companies as well as mature, publicly-traded companies.

Compensation professionals saw a need for advisors in management consulting who could specialize in advising board members, specifically in the technology and life science industries. Thus, the idea to create Compensia was born in 2003. The company went on to become the leading technology company advisor in the compensation consulting field.

The company deals with many complex issues relating to regulatory, accounting, tax, legal, and benchmarking matters relevant in the compensation consulting world. It has made a name for itself by being strategic and targeted with its advisory services.

After learning of the company through his formal law firm colleagues, Jason Borrevik knew he wanted to work for Compensia. He joined the company in 2005, during its early stages. He has expertise in pay governance matters, and executive, equity andboard compensation assessments. Moreover, Jason helps his clients design executive, board, and equity compensation arrangements.

Principal Jason Borrevik was previously a corporate attorney in an advisory role. Before joining Compensia, he worked as a senior associate for seven years at Wilson, Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati.

Jason notes that Compensia made its mark as a niche firm and has also grown successfully over the past 15 years.

Jason helps both early and later stage private companies before their initial public offering and recently public and more mature public technology and life science companies.
